Luv-N-Bunns utilizes a network of foster homes to house the animals until
they are adopted into a permanent home or in the event they are
unadoptable, they are fostered until they can be moved into a rabbit
sanctuary. Foster care provides the animals with a home in which they can
receive socialization and rebuild the trust of the animal. A big part of
our goal is to educate pet owners and to work with them to find a solution
to their pet's problems so that are not surrendered to the local
shelters.
Luv-N-Bunns volunteers will patrol the local shelters weekly to locate
rabbits, who would otherwise be euthanized for no
reason other than lack of room at the shelter. Without our weekly
assessment of the animals in the shelters, many of these animals would be
euthanized because the shelter does not have the available help to provide
for daily medical treatment or does not have the knowledge of how to
properly handle and socialize a rabbit. We provide these rescued rabbits with
medical intervention and some socialization in
order to becoming adoptable. To volunteer your services, start by downloading our
Volunteer Application Form (A .DOC file).

Fostering:
Would you like to experience the rewards of caring for a bunny rabbit, cat, or
kitten that
greatly needs your help, and is cute and entertaining in return?
Many times when we rescue bunnies, we need to to help them heal and learn to trust
humans again, so we make arrangements for their foster care. Each year, Luv-N-Bunns
Rabbit Rescue has over 40 rescued animals
that need to be fostered before they are ready for adoption.
Foster parents spend time with the bunnies, socializing them and gaining their trust
so that they can once again enjoy the companionship of humans. When you foster, in
exchange for your time and love, Luv-N-Bunns provides you with necessary supplies,
pet medical, so you can feed, house and care for the bunnies.
Many people serve as a regular foster parents for our rabbits, or serve as a short-term
foster parents during our busy times-- such as shortly after Easter.
Relinquishment (Intake):
We need Volunteers to help rescue rabbits from local shelters, to feed rescued rabbits, and to help
people fill out a needed Relinquishment Form. Our intake volunteers help take rabbits to veterinarians, so the
rescued rabbits can be given a general health evaluation. Luv-N-Bunns Rabbit Rescue can
then decide what people would need to provide the rabbits they foster or adopt.
If you must give up your rabbit, please download our
Relinquishment Form (A .DOC file), and then
Contact Us.
Adoption:
Luv-N-Bunns Rabbit Rescue places more than 30 rabbits in adoption every year, and
several cats and
kittens. Luv-N-Bunns strives to find permanent adoption homes for our rescued pets.
We make an effort to match the desires and capabilities of a prospective adopter
with a bunny's
personality and specific needs.
We attempt to make our adoption process as pleasant as possible. Our adoption
counselors screens applications,
performs landlord and veterinary checks, visits the homes of prospective adopters,
and provides adoption follow up via telephone. We are available to answer any
questions from
applicants and adoptive parents. To get started toward adopting a needy rabbit, please download our
Adoption Application Form (A .DOC file), and then
Contact Us.
Thank You!
Applicants are welcome to make an appointment to
meet available bunnies. All our bunny rabbits receive a medical evaluation, any needed vet care, and spaying
or neutering
(if old enough). Adoption fees help offset a portion of our program costs. Volunteers who are not able to foster are asked to help with adoption counseling and coordination. This could involve screening applications, doing landlord and veterinary checks, home visits to foster homes or prospective adopters, adoption follow up via telephone.
PetFinder.com provides listings and photos of Luv-N-Bunns rabbits and cats available for adoption.
Outreach:
Public Outreach:
Luv-N-Bunns Board Members and Volunteers host or participate in several outreach
events throughout
the year. Luv-N-Bunns volunteers will attend several outreach events throughout the year. This allows us to educate the public on the importance of spay/neuters, litter training and proper handling of rabbits as well as raise donations for pet care.
We have performed outreach at partner companies (such as Petco), at
community day events, and public libraries. Outreach events allow us to educate the
public on the importance of
spaying and neutering our pets, pet feeding and litter training, as well as the
proper handling of
rabbits, cats, and kittens. We also take the opportunity to seek new volunteers,
and to raise
donations for pet food and supplies.

Pet Education:
With the launch of our new website (at www.Luv-N-Bunns-Rabbit-Rescue.com),
Luv-N-Bunns Rabbit Rescue
is providing a full page of
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
, with answers to questions that pet foster parents, adoptive parents, and rescue
volunteers often have.
Please continue to visit our website, as we add more online pet education resources
for your
enjoyment and enlightenment.
As part of our Outreach Events, we commonly have available useful pamphlets on how
to properly care for
a pet rabbit or cat, when and how to get spaying and neutering services for our
pets, and tips on
necessary vet care.
Further, Luv-N-Bunns Rabbit Rescue has recently formed a partnership with the
Vanguard School in Broomall, PA.
The purpose will be to develop educational programs to teach their students
compassion for animals and
what a rabbit kept as a pet needs for better health and quality of life. The
programs also will provide
students with hands-on experience in how to care for a pet rabbit.

Public Relations:
Our Board Members, with the assistance of willing Volunteers, prepare and
distribute advertisements
and educational materials to inform the public of our rescue programs and
special events. Luv-N-Bunns Rabbit Rescue hands out and mails out informative flyers
and
exhibits posters in efforts to encourage members of the public to foster or adopt
our many homeless
rabbits, cats, and kittens. We prepare press releases of our events, and publish
them in the local papers
and the newsletters of some of our partners.
We are always seeking more volunteers are to attend our pet fostering and adoption
events, and
to participate in our community and public service events. Come on out, have some
fun, and get
a free Luv-N-Bunns Rabbit Rescue for helping out!
Daily Operations:
Both our Volunteers and our Board Members are actively involved in the daily
care of our rescued rabbits, cats, and kittens. This includes procuring pet food and other
supplies, feeding both healthy and sick rabbits, cleaning cages, and taking rabbits for vet
care.
Daily activities also include showing new pet foster parents and adoptive parents how to best care
for their animals, counseling them on when vet care might be needed, and on how to prepare a
safe, healthy environment to receive their new pets.
Volunteers are always welcome to help with the transport of buns from various points throughout the U.S. that need to be relocated because of abandonment, hoarding situations, cruelty situations and more. A network of people join together to get the rabbit transported from the point of origin to a place where they will live the remainder of their life. LNB takes pets
to sanctuaries, or foster homes so they can be cared for prior to adoption.
Fundraising:
Luv-N-Bunns Rabbit Rescue holds fundraising projects and events throughout the year
to help meet veterinary expenses, to fund special projects like animal
relocation, or to contibute to the "Make mine Chocolate" campaign.
Luv-N-Bunns accept both monetary gifts and gifts of pet rabbit supplies (such as food,
cages, bedding, and other necessities).
Please donate if you can. Our modest adoption fees do not cover the costs of all our
pet rescue programs. You can be sure that all donations are greatly appreciated
by the bunny rabbits, our volunteers, and our Board Members (who themselves devote
much volunteer time to the daily care and rehoming of rabbits).
